Tuesday night during Night 2 of NBC’s “The Voice” Season 15, park ranger Keith Paluso took on Kaleo‘s “Way Down We Go” and caused two coaches to turn their chairs around: Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. “He blocked me, cause he’s a moron,” Adam hissed after he found out that Blake pushed his one and only block of the season to ensure that Keith couldn’t join Adam’s team. Did Blake make a savvy move in using his block for Keith? Watch “The Voice” blind audition video above and read Blake’s comments below.
“In high school I always dreaded seeing the park rangers come around [because of my] big cooler of beer,” Blake remarked after learning about Keith’s day job. “Listen, man. Your lower register and the soulfulness that you have? America is going to love your voice. This is gonna be a lot of fun.”
Jennifer Hudson noted, “Whatever park you’re at I want to come. Do you sing at the park?” Kelly Clarkson told Keith that she loves his voice and that “I’ll steal you if he’s stupid and lets you go.” Adam added that he “kind of got lost” in Keith’s voice because it contained all four of the coaches’ unique styles.
In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “The first artist to take the stage tonight was park ranger and bird fanatic Keith Paluso from Tennessee. During a recent paternity leave Keith’s love of music and playing the guitar was reignited, bringing him to The Voice. His audition tonight was to “Way Down We Go” by Kaleo. Based on their initial reactions, Keith’s deep and gritty voice caught the coaches off guard, but Blake was the first to come around, hitting his button once the chorus hit. At the end Adam also hit his button, but was blocked by Blake, ensuring that Keith would join his team”
