Kelly Clarkson advances Abby Cates on ‘The Voice’ after ‘Love Me Like You Do’ battle, but which coach steals Delaney Silvernell? [WATCH]

During Monday’s episode of “The Voice” Season 15, Kelly Clarkson pitted Abby Cates against Delaney Silvernell in a battle to Ellie Goulding‘s “Love Me Like You Do.” After the performance Kelly announced that she was keeping Abby in the competition and cutting Delaney, and that’s when Adam Levine slammed his hand down on his button to steal Delaney for his team. “I knew it!” Kelly mouthed to Delaney after Adam saved her. “You are very different from each other,” Kelly stated when it was her turn to make her big decision. “I mean, Abby obviously is down a path of more of like a stylized singer that has its own specific kind of sound. Delaney is like a singer I could probably give any song to and you would nail. I’m really hoping neither of you go home right now. But I can’t promise that, so I have to make a decision. The winner of this battle is Abby.”

As for why he chose to keep Delaney in the competition with his steal, Adam explained, “That is a really hard song to translate into a live performance. It’s such a big, over the top pop song with so much production and so many things going on. So great job, Delaney. You’re 21, old lady. But you just seem like you’re that much further along.” Delaney was Adam’s second steal of the night after saving Keith Paluso earlier.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the battle: “During their performance, Delaney came across as the more mature artist, but Abby showed a vulnerability in her voice that played really well against her on stage style, especially compared to Delaney’s composure. Adam qualified that the song itself is a hard one to perform live, but acknowledged that they both handled it respectably and along with Jennifer refused to pick one over the other. Ultimately Kelly decided that the artist to remain on her team would be Abby! And though he hadn’t voiced a preference for either artist, when Kelly let Delaney go he immediately knew that he wanted to use his second steal on her.”
