Kendrick Lamar wins 6 Billboard Music Awards in pre-telecast prizes, followed by Bruno Mars with 5

The 2018 Billboard Music Awards will be handed out tonight at 8:00pm during a live telecast on NBC, but most of the winners have already been announced. There are 57 total categories, and we now know the winners in 45 of those races. Leading the way was Kendrick Lamar, who has picked up six awards so far. Lamar came into these awards with 15 nominations, which tied him with Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran as the top contenders. And in the pre-telecast prizes he picked up Top Billboard 200 Album (“Damn”), Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, Top Rap Album (“Damn”), Top Streaming Songs Artist and Top Streaming Song–Audio (“Humble”).

Mars followed close behind Lamar with five wins: Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Tour, Top R&B Album (“24K Magic”) and Top R&B Song (“That’s What I Like”).

Sheeran and Imagine Dragons were next in line with four awards apiece. Sheeran claimed Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist and Top Radio Song (“Shape of You”). And Imagine Dragons picked up Top Duo or Group, Top Rock Artist, Top Rock Album (“Evolve”) and Top Rock Song (“Believe”).

There are a dozen awards left to be announced tonight: Top Artist of the Year, Top New Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Female Artist, the Billboard Chart Achievement Award, Top Social Artist, Top Dance/Electronic Artist, Top Selling Album, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Collaboration, Top Rap Song and Top Country Song.
