Did Kennedy Holmes’ Whitney Houston cover live up to expectations on ‘The Voice’ stage? [WATCH]

Monday, November 26 on “The Voice,” Kennedy Holmes took on “Greatest Love of All” for Team Jennifer Hudson during the Top 11 performance episode. Kennedy knew that it was a risk to sing the iconic Whitney Houston hit, but it looked to have paid off as the coaches and studio audience gave her a rousing standing ovation. As this was “Fan Night,” America got to pick which song each artist performed, but will Kennedy earn enough votes to make it through to next week’s all-important Top 10? Watch “The Voice” live performance above and read the judges’ comments below.

Since Kennedy was the last performer of the night, there as usual wasn’t much time for the judges’ critiques. JHud did get to say a few words though: “I am just so proud of you. You look beautiful. I know Mama Whitney is proud somewhere up there. You are a shining star in your own right and I love how you command the stage. Y’all vote for this girl. We will see your name in lights on your own right.”

Jennifer only has two artists left in the competition: Kennedy and MaKenzie Thomas. Do you think either of them are in danger of heading home this week? Hurry and make your predictions before Tuesday’s results show airs on NBC.

Prior to this performance of “Greatest Love of All,” Kennedy sang “Turning Tables” during the blind auditions, “Battlefield” during the battles, “What About Us” during the knockouts, “Halo” during Top 26 week and “Wind Beneath My Wings” during Top 13 week.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the live performance: “I love this song choice for her because it’s age appropriate and not as predictable as ‘I Will Always Love You’ which we have heard enough of in singing competitions. Jennifer gave Kennedy a Whitney class, teaching her the legend’s arm movements and signature bow. I love the opening of this performance, with Kennedy slowly caressing each note. She’s so statuesque, how is this girl 13? She sounds great and has these arm gestures down pat! I am loving the DIVA coming out of her! YES! Kennedy is back! The coaches are on their feet.”
