“Killing Eve” is in for the kill — at the Emmys. The BBC America breakout hit will snag nominations for Best Drama Series and at least one for acting, 52 percent of our readers voted in a recent poll.
“Killing Eve” achieved the rare feat of increasing its ratings every week — not even “Roseanne,” the No. 1 show of the season, did that — and it’s slowly been climbing up our predictions charts as well. Just last week it was in ninth place for Best Drama Series; it’s now in eighth, one slot out of the final seven.
Stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are both contending in Best Drama Actress. In the last week, Oh has scaled four spots to eighth place and Comer has shot from 30th to 21st. A five-time nominee for “Grey’s Anatomy,” Oh is already a familiar face to voters, but if both Oh and Comer make it in, it’d be the first time in 16 years the category had two nominees from the same show.
“Killing Eve” could also very well find itself nominated in the in the key categories of writing and directing. BBC America submitted wisely, entering just its pilot for both. Not only did it not over-submit, but choosing one episode means there is absolutely no chance for it to split the vote. If you’re a “Killing Eve” fanatic and want to vote for it in writing and directing, you only have one option to check off.
Meanwhile, 31 percent thinks “Killing Eve” will only bag acting nominations, while 17 percent is not forecasting any nominations this year.
