Kirk Jay’s ‘I’m Already There’ dedication to his mama has Jennifer Hudson swooning during ‘The Voice’ live playoffs [WATCH]

During Monday’s live episode of “The Voice” Season 15, country singer Kirk Jay of Team Blake Shelton performed “I’m Already There” for America’s votes. This week’s Top 13 theme was “Dedications,” so Kirk announced that he was dedicating his performance to his mother who sacrificed everything for him. “You don’t understand what you just did to me, Kirk,” swooned rival coach Jennifer Hudson. “I’ve got so many things to say to you. I wanted to throw this [notebook] but I had to save my notes because I had to write some down. But give me two seconds now, Carson. Listen, first of all, I ain’t never heard a yodel have an anointing before you sang it. I don’t care which team you’re on but boy you are bad, bad, bad. I am your biggest fan.”

When it was finally Blake’s time to talk, he joked, “Can we get Jennifer a bag of ice?” Blake continued, “It’s not even fair. I mean, you can’t. To do that great song and do it like you did it and knock it out of the park, and throw ‘mama’ in there too, that’s not even fair. That was incredible. I love you.”

Prior to this performance of “I’m Already There,” Kirk sang “Bless the Broken Road” in the blind auditions, “Let It Rain” in the battles, “In Case You Didn’t Know” in the knockouts and “One More Day” in the Top 26.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the live performance: “Team Blake’s Kirk Jay is dedicating ‘I’m Already There’ by Lonestar to his mother, who is there to see him sing live for the first time. Kirk is such an exciting vocalist and I think he might become one of the biggest names to emerge from ‘The Voice.’ He gives me goosebumps every time he sings. He’s not always vocally perfect, but the heart and soul that just naturally pour out when he sings is immeasurable. When he ad-libbed ‘mama’ into the song, hearts broke across America. All the coaches are on their feet for this performance. Bravo!”
