Country artist Kirk Jay ends ‘The Voice’ rivalry between Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as they kiss and make up [WATCH]

Monday night during Night 5 of “The Voice” Season 15, country singer Kirk Jay took on Rascal Flatts‘ “Bless the Broken Road” and earned a rare four-chair turn from Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson. Kirk said that he picked this song because he’s “had a lot of broken” roads growing up in Alabama and it was the first country song he ever heard. After a battle between all four judges, Kirk made his decision when Adam told him … to join Team Blake! Watch NBC’s “The Voice” blind audition video above and read the coaches’ comments below.

Adam joked that Kirk’s voice sounded like “CeeLo Green and Blake made a country baby.” He then shocked everyone by saying, despite his decade-long animosity with Blake, “If for some terrible reason, Kirk, you don’t come to my team, I would love it if you went to Blake’s team.” He then sighed, “I don’t like that I feel that way.”

Hearing that, Blake rushed over and kissed Adam on the cheeks. “I just kissed Adam Levine!” he shouted, surprised with himself. As Kelly and Jennifer tried to woo Kirk to their teams, Adam stood next to Blake and started pointing at him. Adam’s actions definitely helped Kirk make his decision to become the next member of Blake’s Season 15 team.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Kirk Jay shared his story of a humble childhood in Alabama before delivering the final audition of the night to ‘Bless the Broken Road’ by Rascal Flatts. Falling in country line, Blake was the first to turn his chair, only to be followed by Adam. Jennifer and Kelly were a little slower to come around, but managed to give Kirk a four-chair turn in the end. Adam likened Kirk’s voice to Cee Lo Green‘s (mixed with Blake) and certified the night’s bromance by advising Kirk to join Team Blake if he wasn’t going to choose Adam. Ultimately, Kirk was very clear about his intentions of being a country artist, prompting Kelly to once again pitch that she, too, knows country music and could be a good coach for him. At the end of the day, the writing was on the wall and Kirk joined Team Blake as Adam, and the rest of the coaches, pretty much expected.”
