Kirk Jay breaks America’s heart with emotional ‘Tomorrow’ performance during ‘The Voice’ Top 10 week [WATCH]

Monday, December 3 on “The Voice,” Kirk Jay took on “Tomorrow” for Team Blake Shelton during the Top 10 performance episode. This week Kirk broke America’s heart by going back to his roots with an emotional country ballad, which he admitted is the kind of record he wants to put out. Do you think Kirk will advance to next week’s Top 8 week for Team Blake? Watch “The Voice” live performance above and read the judges’ comments below.

Jennifer Hudson: “I ain’t got no words for this boy. You do it to me every time. I feel like I’m your co-coach because I don’t care which team you’re on, please y’all vote for this boy because he needs to make a country album. [Blake] almost had to pick me off of this floor when you were sitting at that piano, playing and singing the way you do. You are absolutely one of my favorites ever.”

Adam Levine: “Man, I’m a huge fan of yours as well. I’ve mirrored exactly what she’s saying. It’s funny, I really feel like when you’re performing — and once again I’m not a country music expert, as everybody knows, Blake especially — that it’s like something new is happening for country music. There’s so many amazing elements to your voice that make you such a unique person to be doing this. The way you do it, the way you deliver the vocal. I’m always transfixed by what you do and I just think it’s really important for country music to have you in it. So congratulations, man.”

Blake Shelton: “Kirk, that is far and away your most important and pivotal performance of the competition so far. Every one of your performances is a cliffhanger because that’s how you perform. You keep us all on the edge — literally, Jennifer fell off the edge of her seat. You have this thing about you that draws us so close and we want to know what you’re feeling and what you’re going through. And that’s what makes you a great country performer.”

Prior to this performance of “Tomorrow,” Kirk sang “Bless the Broken Road” during the blind auditions, “Let It Rain” during the battles, “In Case You Didn’t Know” during the knockouts, “One More Day” during Top 26 week, “I’m Already There” during Top 13 week and “Body Like a Back” during Top 11 week.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the live performance: “Tonight he’s at the piano and his voice is absolutely scorching through the television. There are so many singers who struggle through the verses, just waiting to belt out the chorus but Kirk is one who sounds amazing throughout. It makes it even more special when he reaches the bridge and does that KILLER run we rarely hear in country music. By the end I had goosebumps! That was my favorite performance of the night.”
