After so much jacket drama on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath,” we just had to ask Lyrsa Torres whether she left her coat behind for Angelina Keeley after Jeff Probst snuffed her torch. “Are you crazy? I took that jacket with me, honey,” Lyrsa tells us the morning after her elimination in Season 37, Episode 6. “That jacket is here with me. I use it quite often actually because it’s getting cold here [in Boston]. I didn’t know the jacket was gonna be this big. I feel like it’s the 21st cast member of the show.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview above.
Lyrsa continues, “If [Angelina] would have approached me and told me, ‘Hey, you’re leaving. Can I keep your jacket because, you know, it’s cold?’ I would have been like, ‘Yes.’ I have no attachments to the jacket — only that now I like it, it was part of my experience on the game. That would have been my only condition but since she was like that, no, I took the jacket. And I also took Jeremy’s socks because they were wool socks … and then I threw them away.”
As for her comments at the end of the episode about not wanting to sit next to Natalie Cole at the reunion show, Lyra explains, “I want to clarify that I think my words have been taken out of context. I was talking more of the point of I’m going to a place where everybody hates me because I voted these people out. So I was coming from a place of not me hating her, it was more of me feeling that this person hates me because she’s no longer playing and I know that she really wanted to play.”
Despite her pre-merge elimination, Lyrsa remains positive about her time on the island. “It’s just a game,” she divulges. “I was just happy that I got to play and meet these amazing people over there.” Lyrsa adds that she believes Angelina is playing the worst game because she “wants to take control of everything.” As for who she thinks is playing the best game, she names Nick Wilson since “he’s playing with everybody and he has no boundaries.”
Also in our “Survivor” podcast, Lyrsa tell us why she thought she was going home at every tribal council, whether she would go back and betray Nick knowing that he turned on her first, and how heavy that saucer was during her final immunity challenge. Listen to our prior exit interviews with Pat Cusack, Jessica Peet, Jeremy Crawford, Bi Nguyen, Natalia Azoqa and Natalie Cole.
