Mandy Patinkin (‘Homeland’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Drama Supporting Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Mandy Patinkin is entering the “Homeland” episode “Species Jump” as his Emmy submission for Best Drama Supporting Actor. This installment aired March 18 and was the sixth episode of the seventh season for the Showtime show.

In this segment, Saul (Patinkin) assembles a three-person team to investigate how a Russian is involved in the massacre in Lucasville. One is an old friend who must be convinced to join them. Saul and Carrie (Claire Danes) meet, and he explains how all the current situations are fitting together but that she must not see Dante anymore. Saul learns much more about online schemes to affect issues.

This year marks Patinkin’s fourth nomination for “Homeland” and seventh for his career, with a win in 1995 for “Chicago Hope.” For this 2018 ceremony, he is up against two-time champ Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), returning nominee David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) and rookie contenders Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”), Joseph Fiennes (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) and Matt Smith (“The Crown”).
