Maroon 5 knocked Drake out of the top spot on Billboard chart, but Drake could take it back (sort of)

In the first half of 2018 Drake was an immovable object on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, ruling for a total of 29 weeks with “God’s Plan,” “Nice for What” and “In My Feelings,” but Maroon 5 finally unseated him when “Girls Like You” featuring Cardi B finally ascended to the top spot. “Girls” has now spent six weeks at number-one, but Drake could take it right back … sort of.

Travis Scott‘s single “Sicko Mode” was hanging around the top 10 for a few weeks, but now it has jumped five spots to number-two following the October 19 premiere of its official music video. Drake isn’t a credited artist on the song, but his vocals are featured on the track, and he’s in the music video too. So if those “sickos” replace Maroon 5 at the top next week it will not only be the first number-one hit of Scott’s career, but it would also unofficially be Drake’s 30th week on top in 2018.

But Scott isn’t the only threat to Maroon 5’s reign. Juice WRLD‘s “Lucid Dreams” has been a staple in the top 10 for months and recently rose to the number-two spot. It’s currently down at number-three, but it’s holding steady there despite dramatic moves all around it.

Rising two spots to a new peak position at number-four is “Happier” by electronic dance music artist Marshmello with British rock band Bastille. That pushes Post Malone‘s “Better Now” down to number-five, but Post Malone has reason to celebrate elsewhere: his “Sunflower” featuring Swae Lee, from the upcoming film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” debuted at number-nine, giving Post his fifth top-10 hit.
