It’s lucky for the adult celebs this season on “Dancing with the Stars” that the kids got their own show because “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” front-runner Miles Brown gave a performance on Disney Night that probably would have wiped the floor with most contestants double, triple or quadruple his age. Watch his “Aladdin”-inspired Charleston above.
Brown and his pro partner Rylee Arnold performed to the song “One Jump Ahead” from the 1992 musical classic, and their routine had the complexity of a full-blown production number. It had props, background dancers, and even some fight choreography mixed in with the Charleston moves. It was one of the fastest paced dance styles performed on Disney Night and featured some of the most intricate choreography.
Given all the busy production elements in the routine, judges Mandy Moore and Val Chmerkovskiy were impressed by how well Brown commanded the dance; Moore thought he was the star of the number, while Chmerkovskiy thought it was the “quintessential” Charleston. And Adam Rippon noted, “You looked the competition in the eyes and said, ‘Hey, don’t forget about me!’”
No one in the studio audience was likely to forget, especially after his scores. He received straight 9s across the board for a total of 27 out of 30, which was the highest score of the season so far, and it placed him at the top of the judges’ leaderboard in a tie with Mackenzie Ziegler. This was Brown’s second week in a row at the top of the heap. On Song from the Year I Was Born Night he and Ziegler both led the night along with Ariana Greenblatt with a score of 24 out of 30.
Did you think Brown gave the best performance of the night? And will his rapid ascent in the scores lead to some perfect 10s in the very near future?
