Spandex kept Milo Manheim from getting close enough to Witney Carson on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Disney Night [WATCH]

Milo Manheim recently rose to front-runner position in our predictions for the “Dancing with the Stars” Mirror Ball Trophy, and it may be going to his head a bit because on Disney Night he came out as a full-blown superhero. He and his pro partner Witney Carson rescued “DWTS” host Tom Bergeron and fought the forces of evil in a quickstep to music from “Incredibles 2,” but all that spandex might have gotten in their way.

The judges broke out the 10s early on Disney Night. Alexis Ren and Juan Pablo Di Pace were the first two performers, and they both received 10s from Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, while Len Goodman went back to his more conservative-scoring ways and gave them 9s. Manheim got his first 10s last week on Trios Night, so when he closed the show with his heroic quickstep it seemed like the panel was primed to give him a 30. All he had to do was stick his moves.

Alas, Goodman thought their routine had plenty of “zip-a-dee-doo-dah,” but he thought there needed to be more body contact while Manheim and Carson were in hold, and he blamed the spandex for forcing them apart. Nevertheless, Inaba thought it was a “fabulous routine,” in no small part because of how well they performed it in those unitards. And Tonioli called the performance a “blockbuster.”

But perfection wasn’t in the cards — or in the paddles. Manheim did get a 10 from Tonioli, but only a 9 from Inaba and a lowly 8 from Goodman. That gave him a total of 27 out of 30, which tied his Most Memorable Year jive as his second highest-scoring routine of the season, but it kept him in third place on the leaderboard. Did you agree with the judges scores, or did Manheim really give the best performance of the night? Vote in our poll below.
