You know them. You love them. You’ll never forget them. Over the past 37 seasons hundreds of everyday people have played the game of “Survivor,” but while most of them came and went, some castaways will always stick in our minds. Click through our “Survivor” photo gallery above that ranks the Top 13 most beloved players of CBS’s reality TV show from worst to best.
Sandra Diaz-Twine (Pearl Islands, Heroes vs. Villains, Game Changers)
There is no denying Sandra’s status as the most iconic and very best player to ever enter the game. After winning her first two times playing (she’s still the only player to win twice), Sandra returned for a third time and somehow managed to outlast each of the former winners in Game Changers as well as contributing to some of the most exciting tribal councils of that season. Sandra is uniquely capable of being both a villain and a hero all at once, endearing herself to her peers while simultaneously stabbing them in the back.
Cirie Fields (Panama, Micronesia, Heroes vs. Villains, Game Changers)
Cirie is an important figure in “Survivor” history because of her reputation as the mom on the couch that defied the odds to not only compete but thrive in a game made for more physically apt players. Without question, Cirie is one of the greatest non-winners to ever play, a legacy that culminated in one of the most depressing eliminations ever when she was eliminated by default in 6th place in Game Changers because four immunity idols were played plus the immunity challenge idol, leaving Cirie as the only player available to vote out.
Ozzy Lusth (Cook Islands Micronesia South Pacific Game Changers)
Ozzy dominated his original season with his physicality, winning five individual immunity challenges that allowed him to outlast most of the other players and claim a runner-up spot (he lost to Yul Kwon in a 5-4 vote). Though Ozzy has never played as well as he did in first season, he set the bar for many players and in the process made being a “physical threat” in every future season since Cook Islands.
Besides these three, who else makes our best-of rankings? Our other 10 faves include Kelly Wiglesworth, Kathy Vavrick-O’Brien, Malcolm Freberg, Kass McQuillen, Jeremy Collins, Kelley Wentworth, Devon Pinto, David Wright, Rupert Boneham and Stephen Fishbach.
