The MTV Movie and TV Awards honor the best achievements on the big screen and the small screen, but it wouldn’t be an MTV event without music. The network has announced two performances for the telecast on June 18: Nick Jonas and Mustard will perform their collaboration “Anywhere” (watch the video above), while Chloe x Halle will sing a medley of their songs “Warrior” and “The Kids Are Alright.”
Mustard is a producer, DJ and rapper who has released two studio albums: “10 Summers” (2014) and “Cold Summer” (2016), both of which feature guest appearances by high-profile acts including Big Sean, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill and John Legend, among many others. As a producer he’s responsible for hits including Tyga‘s “Rack City” (2011), Rihanna‘s “Needed Me” (2016) and Lil Dicky‘s “Freaky Friday” (2018).
Nick Jonas rose to fame as a member of the sibling pop band The Jonas Brothers, with whom he was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2009. Since he and his brothers split to pursue solo projects he has released two albums, “Nick Jonas” (2014) and “Last Year Was Complicated” (2016). In addition he has released three platinum singles: “Chains” (2014), “Jealous” (2014) and “Close” (2016). In addition to his work as a recording artist he’s also an actor and is up for an MTV Movie and TV Award this year for Best On-Screen Team with his co-stars in “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.” And earlier this year he earned a Golden Globe nom for co-writing the song “Home” from the animated film “Ferdinand.”
Chloe x Halle are an R&B duo featuring sisters Chloe Bailey and Halle Bailey. They recently opened for Beyonce during her “Formation World Tour” and just released their debut studio album, “The Kids Are Alright,” on May 23. They’re also co-stars in the Freeform comedy series “Grown-ish,” which is nominated for Best Show at these MTV kudos.
Are you excited to see Nick Jonas, Mustard and Chloe x Halle take the stage? The awards will be handed out at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, California, and they’ll be hosted by comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish.
