Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (‘Game of Thrones’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Drama Supporting Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is entering the “Game of Thrones” episode “The Spoils of War” as his Emmy submission for Best Drama Supporting Actor. This installment aired August 6 and was the fourth episode of the seventh season for the HBO show.

In this segment, Jaime Lannister (Coster-Waldau) oversees the pillage of the Reach, including gold and food headed to King’s Landing. He pays Bronn and discusses the death of Olenna. Bronn would like to buy Highgarden castle, but Jaime reminds him that it is a major target of the Targaryen army. Later on, Dany attacks and Jaime faces fear for one of the only times in his life. The episode ends with him sinking into the river. Enjoy our recent video chat with Coster-Waldau discussing this season and his career.

Coster-Waldau is a first-time Emmy nominee as Best Drama Supporting Actor. For this 2018 ceremony, he is up against two-time champ Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), previous winner Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”), returning nominee David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) and rookie contenders Joseph Fiennes (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) and Matt Smith (“The Crown”).
