Eight weeks out from release, “Ocean’s 8” has dropped a brand new trailer — and it’s more than enough to hold us over until the film hits theaters. The highly anticipated star-studded film looks fun and charming as hell, as Sandra Bullock’s Debbie Ocean, just like her bro Danny (George Clooney), is on parole and starts planning a heist with her best gals.
The crew includes Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter and Awkwafina. Their job: To swipe a super expensive necklace at the annual Met Gala. So yeah, it’s glitzy, glamorous and has more fabulous dresses than you can handle.
James Corden is also there to provide some expository quips. And, in case you forgot from the first teaser, Danny Ocean is ostensibly dead. But this is a professional con man from a family of professional cons, so they’re gonna need to show us a body first.
Even if Danny is dead, Clooney is still part of this all-female remake: He’s an executive producer on the film, alongside producer Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original trilogy. “Ocean’s 8,” directed by Gary Ross and co-written by Ross and Olivia Milch,” opens Friday, June 8 — the 11th anniversary of the release of “Ocean’s Thirteen.”
