Oscars trivia quiz: How well do you know the acting nominees?

How well do you really know this year’s nominees for acting awards at the Oscars?

For example, did you know that “The Shape of Water” Best Actress nominee Sally Hawkins is dyslexic and appeared as an extra in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”? Or that Saorise Ronan (“Ladybird”) is the second youngest actress to earn three Oscar nominations. She received her “Ladybird” nomination at 23 years and 10 months. The No. 1 spot goes to Jennifer Lawrence who earned her third for “American Hustle” at 23 and 5 months.

And a lot of nominees did odd jobs between acting gigs. Best Actor nominee Gary Oldman (“The Darkest Hour”) actually worked in a slaughterhouse. Supporting actor nominee Richard Jenkins (“The Shape of Water”) drove a linen truck.

Several of the actors started out in small roles. Nominee Laurie Metcalf (“Lady Bird”) played a “Weekend Update” reporter for one episode of “Saturday Night Live” in 1981.

Christopher Plummer (“All the Money in the World”) originally wanted to be a pianist. Lesley Manville (“Phantom Thread”) trained to be a soprano singer from the age of eight but turned to acting as a teenager.

But this is just the tip of the nominee iceberg. Why don’t you test your knowledge with this quiz.
