What can fans expect from lovebirds Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) when season four of “Outlander” premieres in November? “Lots of arguments about whether he took the trash out or not. He kept leaving the toilet seat up,” joked Balfe when discussing the new season at New York Comic Con 2018. She and Heughan were joined by their co-stars Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin to dish the upcoming season. Watch them above.
After years of separation and strife, Jamie and Claire are finally together in one place, and Balfe thinks “there’s something beautiful about when they’re relaxed around each other … There’s no cliffhangers anymore in terms of ‘Are they going to stay together or not?’ A lot of it is outside influences that might cause problems, but between them they’re really solid this season and that was really lovely to play.”
Jamie and Claire find themselves washed ashore in colonial America in season four, but while they face challenges in the new world their daughter Brianna (Skelton) is still in the 20th century exploring mysteries of her own, and also a romance of her own: she and Roger Wakefield (Rankin) grow closer together. “It’s been quite a slow burn for us in that you just see snippets of Bree and Roger and their relationship,” says Skelton, but this season their storyline is on “a whole new level.”
Are you excited for more “Outlander” this fall? Season four gets underway on November 4 on Starz, and the premium cable network has already ordered seasons five and six of the fantasy romance, so there’s plenty more where that came from.
