Season 4 of “Outlander” will premiere on Starz on Sunday, November 4 with the first of 13 episodes chronicling the lives of star-crossed lovers Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan). This upcoming installment is based on “Drums of Autumn,” the fourth of eight books in the best-selling book series by Diana Gabaldon.
At the end of season 3, the recently reunited Jamie and Claire were shipwrecked off the Georgia coast in 1766. They had been looking forward to beginning a new life in the colonies, seemingly free of their enemies in Scotland. In the jam-packed trailer that you can watch above, we get a taste of the trouble that lies ahead for these two time travellers.
Filming of season 4 took Heughan, Balfe and the rest of the “Outlander” cast to Scotland and then various locales in eastern Europe, which stand in for the mountains and rivers of the American colonies.
With the season 3 finale of “Outlander” having aired last December, the Droughtlander till season 4 will have run for almost a year. While it has been tough to get through, we are grateful that the accelerated production schedule lobbed five months off the nearly year-and-a-half gap between seasons 2 and 3.
