Helen Castillo narrowly avoided elimination in episode four of “Project Runway All Stars.” Not only was her unconventional ball gown in “Balls Out” not to the judges’ liking, they also disapproved of how she handled her critiques, disparaging her fellow designers’ methods and style choices. That was the second time in four weeks that Castillo has had one of the lowest scoring looks in a design challenge, so she may have a target on her back going into episode five tonight. Our users think she’s out of second chances and will be eliminated. Do you agree?
Every week we poll “Runway” fans for their predictions, and as of this writing Castillo gets leading odds of 19/10, which translates to a 33.96% chance of elimination. But perhaps she’ll be scared straight by last week’s close call and step up with her next design. That’s what happened to Stanley Hudson. He landed in the bottom two in the week-two challenge “Damsels in Distress.” We thought he would be eliminated last week in “Balls Out,” but quite the opposite: he won the unconventional challenge.
So if Castillo survives again this week, who else might be at risk? Currently ranked second in our predictions is Joshua McKinley with 6/1 odds, or a 14.78% chance of elimination. McKinley has flown under the radar so far; he’s the only contestant left at this point who has advanced safely through the competition every week without being singled out for a positive or a negative critique. So while he hasn’t disappointed the judges thus far, he hasn’t wowed them either.
Amanda Valentine also gets 6/1 odds, or a 14.38% chance of elimination. She’s actually still the front-runner to win season six according to our predictions, but in “Balls Out” she got her first critique from the judges and it wasn’t good. So that might put her in an even more precarious position than McKinley.
