Edmond Newton has struggled in recent weeks on “Project Runway All Stars,” and now he may be at risk of elimination. At least, that’s what our readers think. Every week we poll “Runway” fans for their predictions, and based on their collective forecasts Newton gets leading odds of 11/8, which translates to a 41.97% chance of being sent home. Do you agree?
Newton got off to a great start, earning a high score from the judges in the season premiere for his autumn-inspired design. Then he advanced safely through the next three weeks of the competition without a positive or negative critique from the judges. However, his next four challenges took a turn for the worse. He landed in the bottom three in three out of those four episodes: “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” and most recently “Mizrahi Madness.” And he hasn’t gotten a high score since the start of the season.
Unfortunately for Newton, he’s also one of the only two contestants remaining who hasn’t won a single design challenge this season so far — the other is Helen Castillo. So if he disappoints the judges again his lack of any winning looks and his recent creative downturn may be enough for them to decide to send him packing.
But if Newton does survive another week, our users think Joshua McKinley is next in line for elimination. He ranks second with 11/2 odds, or a 15.31% chance of going home. The outspoken designer won the “Betty Boop” challenge, and he has only gotten one low score all season, in “A Kick in the Astro,” but receiving those negative critiques made him so defensive that he refused to engage with the judges at all. So his disposition as much as his designs could put him at risk if he sends another disappointing look down the runway.
