Quin and Misha received a confetti shower during the Judge Cuts 3 episode of “America’s Got Talent” when guest judge Martina McBride pressed her Golden Buzzer for the ballroom dancers. Quin, a 71-year-old dancer originally from Taiwan, teamed up with 35-year-old Misha half a decade ago and together they brought “AGT” judges McBride, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel to tears with their inspirational act. Watch the “Americas Got Talent” performance video above and read the judges’ comments below.
Heidi: “You have definitely inspired me. I think you are an absolutely incredible woman. I love what you do. I love watching you guys. I’m very impressed. Thank you.”
Simon: “The best part about you guys is your personality. Every time you come on you light up the stage. This is great. This is what we’re looking for.”
Martina: “Wow. You know, you say you want to inspire people of a certain age, but you inspired everybody of all ages. Truly a remarkable performance. I don’t know, it just really moved me. I think it’s incredible, so …”
The country music superstar slammed her hand down on her Golden Buzzer and then Quin broke down in tears as she fell to the floor. Martina jumped up onto the stage and hugged Quin, as host Tyra Banks came out to announce that Quin and Misha were going straight to the live shows on NBC’s reality TV show.
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty summarized, “71- and 35-year olds Quin and Misha returned tonight hoping to turn things around with their dance routine. With moves as good as any younger ballroom dancer, the duo earned a huge round of applause, especially from Martina who was so inspired by the act that she hit her golden buzzer and sent the dancers straight through to the live shows! The rest of the panel couldn’t have been happier with the decision — Mel was even in tears! Martina said that so many people give up on their dreams later in life and believes that it’s important for everyone to see Quin’s journey and hear her message on the show.”
