Monday night on “The Voice,” rock/soul singer Rayshun LaMarr represented Team Adam Levine during the live Top 11 episode of Season 14. America’s song choice for Rayshun was Otis Redding‘s “Try a Little Tenderness,” which ended up being a major step up after his bottom two showing last week. “First of all, last week this dude was in the bottom two,” Adam reminded the live audience. “Tonight, he is number one. That’s the first time in the history of this show that the coaches all stood up before you were even finished with the song. Like, everybody got up! You are unbelievable. You are unstoppable. I love you man, that was incredible.”
Rayshun’s other performances on “The Voice” so far have included “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Sweet Thing,” “Fallin’,” “Overjoyed,” “I’m Goin’ Down,” “When Love Takes Over” and “I Can’t Stand the Rain.” How does “Try a Little Tenderness” stack up to his other songs? Let us know down in the comments section.
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger John Benutty declared, “Finally we got to see Rayshun get a strong chorus at the end of the song that allowed him to explode into his dancing and dramatic lyrical delivery that he’s known for. I love that such a wild ending was paired with a super modest start to the song because it made it all the more electrifying when he erupted at the end.”
