Stand-up comedian Samuel J. Comroe returned to “America’s Got Talent” during the Semifinals 1 episode and poked fun at his own Tourette’s syndrome as well as the concept of prayer. As one of only two comics left in the competition (the other being Vicki Barbolak), judge Howie Mandel is personally rooting for him. Will America’s votes send him through to the Finals? Watch the “Americas Got Talent” video above, read the judges’ comments below, and then make your predictions before Wednesday’s results show.
SEE ‘America’s Got Talent’ predictions: 5 acts advancing from Semifinal 1 will be Duo Transcend, Michael Ketterer, Shin Lim, Voices of Hope, ZurcarohHowie Mandel: “I am so happy. You brought it. You deserve to be here. I bumped into you last night. I actually saw him on the street, I said, ‘You need to make it to the Finals. We need to have a comic in the Finals.’ I think you delivered the performance tonight that will get you there. I think America’s got to get on board. You are funny and that’s all you need to do.”
Mel B: “I have to say, I really needed a good belly laugh. This is my favorite performance of the night! I’ve got to give it to you. I was laughing, laughing, laughing, laughing. You’re witty, your timing, just everything about you. I just love you.”
Heidi Klum: “You know that I really like you as a person and I think that the jokes were better. But you know Mel is laughing so loud and I want to laugh so loud too at the jokes. I’m still struggling with that. But you have so many fans and America loves you. I hope they prove me wrong.”
Simon Cowell: “I think it’s the hardest thing to do to come out following a production like we had before with all the fire and all the roller skates, come out on your own, 3,000 people and you gotta nail it. And you did nail it. You know what Samuel, it’s not just the fact that you’re funny. I think people like me like you. There’s something about you. I think you need this break. That’s what the show is designed for. And I think we’re gonna see you in the Finals. I’ve just got a hunch.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Samuel J. Comroe returned to the stage tonight with another comedy set. This time the focus of his jokes was back on his Tourettes with a few moments of supposed improv where he addressed the mood of the live audience (half was into it and the other half wasn’t). Mel called it her favorite performance of the night, but Heidi still struggled connecting to his brand of comedy and wished that she had laughed as much as Mel. Simon and Howie both though he nailed it though and is more than deserving of reaching the finals.”
