Blues singer Sarah Grace (‘No Roots’) survives ‘The Voice’ battles after Kelly Clarkson cuts Erika Zade [WATCH]

During Tuesday’s episode of “The Voice” Season 15, Kelly Clarkson pitted blues singer Sarah Grace against pop artist Erika Zade in a battle to Alice Merton‘s “No Roots.” As a refresher, Sarah has synesthesia which allows her to visualize colors when she sings, and Erika grew up in a Cuban household with a classical guitarist for a father. In the end, Kelly decided to keep Sarah and so she had to say adios to Erika. Watch NBC’s “The Voice” battle video above and read the coaches’ comments below.

Following the performance Kelly had a hard time choosing between both of her young female artists. She declared, “Erika did this really cool, intense thing that’s really rad. Your runs are so effortless. Your vibe — you’re just as much into it, you just both have different attacks and approaches to how you perform. Sarah Grace being 15 and loving blues music. Like, that’s insane, too.”

When it finally came time for Kelly to make her decision, she blurted out, “The winner of this battle is Sarah Grace.” Sarah celebrated by hugging Kelly, then backstage she was spotted with tears in her eyes. “I’m really happy that Kelly feels that I fit on her team,” Sarah weeped.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the battle: “It’s time for the performance! Sarah begins by showing off her sultry, bluesy voice. Erika joins in, sounding less original but still hitting the right notes. Overall, this duo is lacking the excitement we’ve seen in previous battles and neither is terribly impressive. I’d give the edge to Sarah simply because her voice is more unique.”
