Monday, November 26 on “The Voice,” Sarah Grace took on “Dog Days Are Over” for Team Kelly Clarkson during the Top 11 performance episode. Sarah was happy to take on the Florence and the Machine hit because it was a nice change of pace from the older songs she’d been singing in the reality TV competition. As this was “Fan Night,” America got to pick which song each artist performed, but will Sarah earn enough votes to make it through to next week’s all-important Top 10? Watch “The Voice” live performance above and read the judges’ comments below.
“Wow, Sarah Grace, I gotta say, I’ve been a fan of yours from the beginning,” said rival coach Blake Shelton. “I love seeing you step out from behind the piano and get out here and perform like that. That’s my favorite performance by you so far, so great job tonight.”
Kelly raved about Sarah’s performance, proclaiming, “It’s funny, I think both of us are shocked. I wouldn’t have given her this song. Fans picked this song. She wouldn’t have picked this song. And now she’s like found this whole style that she loves and adores. This was her best moment. Sarah, it’s amazing because you’re just freshly 16 years old. It’s like you’re such a smart singer for being so young. It’s so beautiful to watch.”
Prior to this performance of “Dog Days Are Over,” Sarah sang “Ball and Chain” during the blind auditions, “No Roots” during the battles, “I’d Rather Go Blind” during the knockouts, “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby” during Top 26 week and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” during Top 13 week.
In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the live performance: “I love that she’s being accompanied by a harp. Sarah’s lower tone sounds great and this was a perfect song choice for her. What’s great about Sarah is that she has such a unique tone and halfway through the song she appears to get more comfortable on the stage. I would say this week was a success for Sarah!”
