Of all the Golden Globes hosts in recent memory, who is YOUR favorite? Now that we’ve seen first-time host Seth Meyers in action, give us your thoughts by voting in our poll below. How did NBC’s “Late Night” star compare to former Golden Globes hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler and Ricky Gervais?
Meyers went after Donald Trump during his monologue, joking that “Hollywood Foreign Press” are three words the President no doubt hates the most in life. The former “SNL” vet also addressed the elephant in the room head: the Hollywood sexual scandals that took down Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and more. He joked that Weinstein would one day return to the Globes … in 20 years when he’ll be booed in the memoriam segment.
Last year was Fallon’s first time as the Globes’ ringleader after a successful stint hosting the Emmys in 2010. Fallon started the show with a fantastic ode to “La La Land” that featured many of that year’s nominated stars and productions. He then came out on stage to a teleprompter that didn’t work, but didn’t let that get to him and moved the show along like a pro.
Prior to Meyers and Fallon were “SNL” buddies Fey & Poehler and British comedian Gervais. All three were known for their take-no-prisoners attitudes and made fun of the many celebs in attendance, including Meryl Streep, Mel Gibson, George Clooney and the “Sex and the City” gals. Gervais often came out with a glass of beer in hand, creating a laid-back attitude that fit the Globes’ party atmosphere. His four years as host (2010-12, 2016) rivals Fey & Poehler, who hosted three years (2013-15).
