Can sibling band We Three advance on ‘America’s Got Talent’ despite Simon Cowell calling them ‘the support band’? [WATCH]

“Tonight you looked like the support band with an okay song,” hissed “America’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell to sibling band We Three during Tuesday night’s live show. After the other “AGT” judges Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel all gave the band praises for their original song “So They Say,” Simon ruined the mood with his critique and incited thousands of boos from the Dolby Theatre audience. Will We Three be able to advance to the next round, or is their time in the spotlight over? Howie: “Oh, I thought that was amazing. Here’s what it is. On our show we sometimes have people come to us like you did with a very sad story. I think you transcended your story. You rose about it. And I’d like to say that I would guess, We Three, that we four all enjoyed We Three. You have risen about your story and we love you.”

Mel: “Oh my gosh, I just love you guys. I love everything about you. You’re original. You write your own music. It comes from the heart. And I kind of see you as like a young, current Dire Straits kind of band. You know what I mean? Because you’ve got something. You’ve just got that extra special niche and you’re all very hot.”

Heidi: “I just think that you have a beautiful sound. I think you harmonize beautifully together and I love that you guys are siblings and you can be on this journey together. Thank you very much.”

Simon: “Guys, do you want me to be honest with you? I don’t think this worked tonight. I think tonight you looked like the support band with an okay song. This was not for me a step up. I think you’ve gotta re-think about how you re-stage yourselves going forward. Don’t keep doing the same thing. If you want to pop, you have to pop. This was laid back, it was too polite. This is not what a live show performance should be like coming from you what you’re capable of, in my opinion.”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty wrote, “Another act the judges have always liked is We Three, who performed their third original song for the competition. Some people may have thought that the group advanced through the first two stages based mostly on their sad story, but as Howie pointed out they have ‘transcended their story’ and are relying purely on talent. Both Mel and Heidi were in agreement, but Simon served the real tea when he told them that tonight was a step down from their previous songs and that they seemed like a ‘support band’ not a headliner”
