It took 13 seasons but executive producer and head judge Simon Cowell has finally found a singing dog to showcase on “America’s Got Talent.” Oscar, a three-year-old golden retriever, wowed him with his rendition of the wedding favorite “Pachelbel’s Canon” on the July 10 episode of “AGT.” (Watch his audition video above.)
Pam and her pup won over the curmudgeonly Cowell who readily admits he loves dogs more than people. The owner of this cuddly pooch explains she discovered her could bark in tune when he just 18 months old, after he joined in when she was playing the piano. “Then I worked with him and now he really sings.” Cowell agreed with her assessment and declared, “I’ve done this show a long time, and I’ve always said if we could find a dog that could sing, that would be everything to me.”
Host Tyra Banks observed, “He’s on key” However, while she, Cowell and Howie Mandel were won over, the female judges were less than impressed. While Heidi Klum was a firm “no,” Mel B was swayed by the audience and gave Oscar the third “yes” he needed to move on to the next round, judges’ cuts.
