Singing mom Glennis Grace blows the roof off of ‘America’s Got Talent’ with unexpected Prince cover [WATCH]

During her original audition on “America’s Got Talent,” singing mom Glennis Grace took on Whitney Houston and was told by Mel B to mix things up next time. Glennis took that advice to heart and delivered an unexpected cover of Prince‘s “Nothing Compares To You” for her performance in the Judge Cuts 4 episode. All of the “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Chris Hardwick — were over the moon with her act and easily sent her through to the live shows. Watch the “Americas Got Talent” performance video above and read the judges’ comments below.

Chris: “You honored the song but you made it your own. And I love that you started a capella, which is a very hard thing to do. I am floored.”

Mel: “Not only amazing. I don’t think you realize what you just gave us. You gave us your everything, your all. And thank you for taking my advice.”

Simon: “What you have Glennis, you have a glow about you. And maybe the time is right for you now. Because there’s a musical shift happening where record companies would normally say if you’re not 21 we’re not interested in signing you, or we want this kind of singer. The world is changing for the better, thank god.”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty wrote, “Glennis Grace came on stage to sing ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ with the hope of bringing something original to the classic track. Her version was eerily stripped down which allowed her powerful voice to be front and center. Her stunning rendition ‘floored’ Chris and the rest of the judges agreed that she gave it her all tonight and is destined to be a star. I have a feeling that if Chris hadn’t already given out his golden buzzer that maybe Glennis would have gotten it instead!”
