Monday night on “The Voice,” country singer Spensha Baker represented Team Blake Shelton during the live Top 11 episode of Season 14. America’s song choice for Spensha was Little Big Town‘s “Better Man,” which gave her the opportunity to prove that she’s a current country artist, as opposed to someone who sings classic country tunes. Do YOU think that Spensha will advance to the next round on NBC’s reality TV singing competition? Watch “The Voice” performance video above.
Blake got emotional when addressing Spensha, declaring, “Something that I heard in that package that broke my heart a little bit, but I’m glad you’re wrong about it, is when you said you gave up on music at one point. Spensha, you are so important to music, to country music. Your voice is powerful and it means something to people. Look at what you’re doing here right now. This is proof that you’re doing what you’re meant to do. Congratulations.”
Spensha’s other performances on “The Voice” so far have included “Blackbird,” “I Could Use a Love Song,” “Broken Halos,” “I Still Believe in You,” “Smoke Break” and “Down on My Knees.” How does “Better Man” stack up to her other songs? Let us know down in the comments section.
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger John Benutty said, “This was a lovely night for Spensha, delivering a solid vocal with a soft and tender song the had as much drama and power that you can imagine for a country track. And honestly if you showed me this and said it was the first single from a newly crowned winner, I’d believe it!”
