If there were a vote for the most popular category on the Teen Choice Awards, which airs on Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, it would likely be Best Liplock. That’s because the stars usually re-create the moment live while accepting their trophy. The category was not on the ballot when the show began in 1999. But it is likely the first-ever winner – an unforgettable iconic smackeroo in a 2002 superhero blockbuster – that probably inspired the addition. Last year’s ceremony added a new twist by including public displays of affection from TV series into the mix.
Those up for the lip-service prize this year: Chadwick Boseman and Lupito Nyong’o in “Black Panther,” Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard in “Stranger Things,” Zac Efron and Zendaya in “The Greatest Showman,” Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana in “Avengers: Infinity War,” Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni in “Jane the Virgin” and Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart in “Riverdale.”
