Tuesday night on “The Voice,” 17-year-old Dallas Caroline sang Willie Nelson‘s “Always on My Mind” during the final episode of the Season 14 blind auditions. The Santa Rosa, California resident performed the Nelson cover in honor of her hometown that was devastated by wildfires. Three coaches — Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson — turned their chairs around for Dallas, and she ultimately chose to be the final member of Team Blake. Can Dallas make it all the way to the Season 14 live shows? Watch “The Voice” blind audition performance video above.
“When I see somebody young like you performing ‘Always on My Mind,’ I mean that’s one of the most sacred country songs of all time,” Blake told Dallas while trying to convince her to complete his team. “I can go, wow, there’s our next LeAnn Rimes, there’s our next Tanya Tucker, there’s our next hero in country music. That’s why I want to be your coach on this show. Let’s do this, Dallas.”
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger Denton Davidson said, “This song is so brilliant, it’s difficult to sound bad, but Dallas has a beautiful innocence to her voice. It’s not polished and she has room to grow, but there is definite potential. Kelly was the first to turn her chair, followed by Adam and finally Blake. After the three banter, Dallas surprises nobody and completes Team Blake. Perhaps now Kelly or Adam can get a country singer.”
