Tuesday night on “The Voice,” 19-year-old Genesis Diaz sang Kesha‘s “Praying” during the final episode of the Season 14 blind auditions. The Miami, Florida resident comes from a family of musicians, but “The Voice” could make her a household name. Two coaches — Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — turned their chairs around for Genesis, and she ultimately made the tough choice to be on Team Adam. Can Genesis make it all the way to the Season 14 live shows? Watch “The Voice” blind audition performance video above.
“I think you’re tremendous,” Adam told Genesis while fighting against Blake to acquire her for his team. “You weren’t just cranked up to 11 the whole time. When you were soft, you were soft. When you were in your false, you were in your false. I really started thinking about all of these ideas and all of these ways in which you can thrive on this show. You are amazing.”
In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger Denton Davidson noted, “Genesis is knocking it out of the park and seems to have the entire package it takes to be a star, but the coaches aren’t budging! Finally, at the last moment, both Adam and Blake turn around. Blake said he would love for her to be the person to complete Team Blake. Adam praised her technique and called her ‘amazing.’ After careful consideration, Genesis chose Adam. Each coach only has one spot remaining!”
