‘The Voice’ comeback stage: Did America goof by eliminating Ayanna Joni during live instant save? [WATCH]

During Tuesday’s live episode of “The Voice” Season 15, comeback stage artist Ayanna Joni of Team Kelsea Ballerini performed “No Tears Left to Cry” for America’s instant save. Prior to this performance, Ayanna sang “Sorry Not Sorry” in the blind auditions but didn’t receive any love from the four main coaches. She then became a member of Kelsea’s comeback team, where she took on “Dangerous Woman” in the battles and “I Put a Spell on You” in the knockouts. On November 13 Ayanna and Lynnea Moorer performed live in front of America, but unfortunately host Carson Daly announced that Lynnea was the winner of the instant save. In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the live performance: “First up was Ayanna with Ariana Grande‘s ‘No Tears Left to Cry.’ It’s an interesting song choice because it didn’t provide many opportunities for her to show off her vocal ability, but at the same time it’s hugely popular and Ariana just scored her own first #1 on the Hot 100 chart. Vocally her voice was shaky and thin, but she also had trouble staying on top of the tempo so it all was just a big jumble unfortunately.”

In the end America chose to send home Ayanna Joni, thereby advancing Lynnea Moorer to the Top 13. As a bonus, Lynnea got to pick which of the four main coaches’ teams she wanted to join: Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Jennifer Hudson or Blake Shelton. Lynnea opted for Team Kelly, meaning this group now has four members heading into next week’s Top 13 show, while the other three coaches all have three contestants. Did America make the right choice to send home Ayanna, or did they goof? Sound off down in the comments section.
