‘The Voice’ knockouts: Keith Paluso jumps teams yet again after Tyke James wows coach Adam Levine [WATCH]

During Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” Adam Levine paired up Keith Paluso and Tyke James in the first knockout round of Season 15. Keith, who was previously a member of Team Blake Shelton, took on Ray LaMontagne‘s “You Are the Best Thing” while Tyke performed Johnny Cash‘s “Ring of Fire.” After a brief deliberation Adam decided to keep Tyke, but Keith’s journey wasn’t over quite yet. Rival coach Kelly Clarkson was quick to push her “Steal” button after Keith was eliminated, but Adam also didn’t want the park ranger to go home so he pushed his “Save” button. Adam argued, “The reason why I chose Tyke is simply because he’s been with me since the start, however in this short period of time that we’ve worked together you’ve improved drastically. I would love to continue to work with the momentum that we’ve built up, on my team where you belong.”

“Keith, I love you being a little bit mysterious,” Kelly said when it was her turn to try to woo him to her team. “There’s nothing sexier than that in a man — it’s cool. I think that you have such a better gift to showcase different sides of you. I’m so ‘park ranger’ on this. I think you’re gonna go far.” Ultimately Keith chose to switch to Kelly’s team because he felt that her energy was “contagious.”

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the knockout: “In their performances, Keith sang in a smooth, deep register and came off as super authentic in his connection to the lyrics. Tyke’s energy was pretty low, but in a weird way it actually made the song sound completely new. Both guys got praise from all judges, but Tyke seemed to intrigue them more because of his surfer vibe. In the end, that was enough for Adam to stick with Tyke initially, but he hit his Save to keep Keith, too. But Kelly hit her Steal, leaving it up to Keith to make the final decision.”
