Tituss Burgess (‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’) Emmy episode revealed for Best Comedy Supporting Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Tituss Burgess is entering the “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” episode “Kimmy and the Beest” as his Emmy submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. This installment streamed May 30 and was the fifth episode of the fourth season for the Netflix show.

In this segment, Titus Andromedon (Burgess) becomes the director of a high school musical loosely based on “Beauty and the Beast” (titled “Beaudy an’ the Beest’ legally). A student very similar to Titus is perfect for the lead, but he sees him as a threat and casts himself in the show. A flashback to his own high school days indicates he missed his own chance at stardom.

This year marks the fourth straight Emmy nomination for Burgess in this role. For the 2018 ceremony, All seven of this year’s contenders as Best Comedy Supporting Actor are previous nominees or winners either for this category or others. That includes reigning champ Alec Baldwin (“Saturday Night Live”), past winners Louie Anderson (“Baskets”) and Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), and former nominees Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”), Kenan Thompson (“Saturday Night Live”) and Henry Winkler (“Barry”).
