‘World of Dance’ sneak preview: Who should win the Duel of Marissa and the Heartbreakers vs. Poreotics? [WATCH]

Before tonight’s “World of Dance,” which is the third week of the head-to-head Duels round, watch a special sneak preview of one Duel that NBC has made available online (check it out above). In a battle between two Upper Team Division troupes, Marissa and the Heartbreakers take on the Poreotics, and they look pretty evenly matched if you ask me.

Poreotics first performed in week four of the Qualifiers, when the hip-hop group scored 87 from Ne-Yo, 90 from Jennifer Lopez and 87 from Derek Hough, giving them an average of 88. But before they came to “World of Dance” they competed on “America’s Best Dance Crew,” where they won season five in 2010. Their Duels routine is full of intricate and inventive shapes that come together with impeccable synchronicity.

They challenged Marissa and the Heartbreakers to this Duel since the Heartbreakers had a lower qualifying score (average of 83.7), but the ladies seem every bit their equal. The heels dancers bring a similar hip-hop vibe to their Duels routine, which showcases a level of flexibility the Poreotics can’t match — check out the perfectly timed splits! Bonus points, of course, for doing it all in death-defying stilettos.

So who wins this Duel? The sneak peek doesn’t show us any judges’ comments or scores, so we’re left to wonder until the episode airs. I’d have a hard time picking between the two, though I might give the slight edge to the visually innovative choreography of the Poreotics. But I think either team would be deserving of a spot in the next round of the competition based on these routines. Alas, only one team can advance, while the other will be eliminated. Who do you think deserves to win? Vote below.
