2019 Gold Derby TV Awards: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ava DuVernay, Lin-Manuel Miranda and more react on Twitter to their nominations

When the 2019 Gold Derby TV Awards nominations were announced on July 24, several stars took to Twitter to express their gratitude (see the full nominations list here). Scroll down to see a sampling of the tweets, including “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “When They See Us” director Ava DuVernay, and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” guest actor Lin-Manuel Miranda. Then make sure you visit our predictions center to vote for the winners right now. Make your picks before September 13, then look out for the winners announcement on September 17.

These nominations were voted on by about 1,500 registered Gold Derby users, each of whom ranked their top three favorites in each category. Their top choice received three points, their second choice received two points and their third choice received one point, with the highest point-getters becoming the nominees. When picking the winners, however, there’s no preferential voting. Instead, you simply pick your one favorite in each category, and whoever gets the most votes wins.

In Best Limited Series, “Chernobyl,” “Sharp Objects” and “When They See Us” tied with five nominations each. They’re up against “Fosse/Verdon” (three nominations) and “The Haunting of Hill House” (two nominations).

The Gold Derby Awards also honor the overall best performers and breakthrough performers of the year, recognizing their entire bodies of television work from the TV season and not for any one particular program. The Performer of the Year nominees are Amy Adams, Patricia Arquette, Bill Hader, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Billy Porter and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. For Breakthrough Performer of the Year, we have Asa Butterfield, Hannah Gadsby, Jharrel Jerome, Joey King, MJ Rodriguez and Eliza Scanlen.
