Oscar nominations will be announced on Jan. 22 with final voting set to take place for eight days beginning on Feb. 12. The 91st annual Academy Awards will air live on ABC on February 24. For the first time in 30 years, the ceremony will not have a host.
While most of the guild reveal their winners after the academy reveals its slate of contenders for the Oscars, one jumped the gun. The Producers Guild of America held the annual PGA Awards on Jan. 19. The guild, which has about the same number of members as the academy (8,000 or so), uses the same system of voting as the Oscars to decide the Best Picture winner.
By opting for a preferential ballot, the PGA has an outstanding track record at previewing the eventual Oscar winner (20 of the last 29). That stat bodes well for this year’s PGA winner, “Green Book.”
Below, we detail the key dates for Oscar voting as well as for all of the precursor prizes, including the dates of those awards.
