‘A Star Is Born’ stars splitting up Sunday: Lady Gaga going to Grammys; Bradley Cooper attending BAFTA

Both “A Star Is Born” stars had difficult decisions to make for this Sunday since the Grammy Awards and BAFTA Film Awards are on the same day. And now the choice has been made: Lady Gaga is reportedly going to the Grammys in Los Angeles, while Bradley Cooper is attending the BAFTAs in London, according to London’s newspapers The Sun and Daily Mail on Tuesday.

The song “Shallow” from the blockbuster musical is nominated at the Grammys for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group and Best Visual Media Song. Of those bids, both Gaga and Cooper are part of the Record and Duo nominations. Gaga is nominated with her co-writers Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt for the Song and Visual Media bids. She is also competing in the Pop Solo category for “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?).” There has been no word yet from the Grammys or CBS if Lady Gaga will be performing or presenting on their ceremony.

The film is nominated for seven categories at BAFTA. Cooper himself is in five of those: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Music. Gaga is also with him in the music category (along with Lukas Nelson) and competes as Best Actress. The other bid is for Best Sound.

For the Academy Awards on February 24, “A Star Is Born” is nominated eight times: Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor (Sam Elliott), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song (“Shallow”), Best Cinematography and Best Sound Mixing.
