On the Monday, January 28 episode of “AGT: Champions,” longtime fans of “America’s Got Talent” will see a familiar face in the form of comedian Drew Lynch. As a refresher, Drew’s jokes about his stuttering helped him make it to the Finals of Season 10, where he came in second place to ventriloquist Paul Zerdin. Now that he’s a part of the spinoff series that pits 50 acts from around the world against each other, can he actually win this time around? Watch an exclusive video clip of Drew’s performance above and tune in to “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” Monday at 8/7c on NBC.
Since his original season aired in 2015, Drew’s successful stand-up routines have kept him busy with shows around the country. His wildly popular “Dog Vlog” channel on YouTube is still going strong, featuring him informing viewers about his service dog Stella. Drew also appeared in the flash animation series “Therapy Dog” in December 2017.
“I love performing,” Drew announces at the top of his latest set. “Some people, sometimes they find my stand-up to be a little jarring because I stutter. But I prefer to think that you’re getting the joke and also the remix. So even if you hear a joke that’s not for you, you can you be like, I didn’t like the lyrics to that one, but it had a good beat.”
“AGT” judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel are all wowed by Drew’s set, which bodes well for his chances of making it to the next round. Back in his original 2015 audition Drew’s knack for finding humor in his stutter, which he developed because of a sports injury, earned Howie’s Golden Buzzer.
There are two ways that Drew can advance to the Finals of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions”: via a Golden Buzzer or via the Superfan vote. If Drew ends up making it through he’ll be joining fellow comedian Preacher Lawson as well as extreme knife throwers Deadly Games and singers Susan Boyle, Cristina Ramos, Angelica Hale and Paul Potts.
