“This guy is amazing. I want his music now!” shouts Judy Angel, one of the many “American Idol” fans who think that humble singer Alejandro Aranda has what it takes to win Season 17. Alejandro’s audition video of his original song “Out Loud” from last week’s third episode went viral on social media after it was declared to be the “greatest audition ever.” Now “American Idol” viewers everywhere are rooting for this 24-year-old dishwasher from Pomona, California to go all the way. See some of their excited comments below.
Alejandro wowed judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan not just with his silky smooth voice, but also with his expert guitar strumming. “I just feel like I’m in the presence of greatness,” Luke praised before adding, “I am so glad you are here. It was like watching my favorite movie that I did not want to end.” Lionel slammed his hands down on the table and said that Alejandro “inspired” him, while Katy raved that he’s “an absolute genius.”
“I don’t really think I’m special. I think I’m just hard-working,” the soft-spoken singer said as the judges continued swooning over him. Alejandro cited Trent Reznor, Chopin and Bach as his three musical heroes, which prompted Katy to blurt out, “I think you’re the winner.” Lionel asked Alejandro to perform a second song because he wanted to see him behind the piano, so he sang yet another original, “Cholo Love.”
