Want a say in who makes it the Top 4 on “American Idol”? Then keep reading as we have you all the info you’ll need to cast your vote on May 5. Voting opens when the two-hour show starts its live nationwide broadcast at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. You’ll only have until the last commercial break to register your support for your favorites from the Top 6.
There are three ways to vote for Alejandro Aranda, Laci Kaye Booth,, Wade Cota, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg: online, via the app and by text. You are allowed to vote up to 10 times per method for each of the remaining six contestants.
This means you can cast up to 30 votes for each and every artist that you want to see continue in season 17. And you can reallocate your votes throughout the evening as the Top 6 perform two songs apiece: one from the summer of 1969 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock festival and another that is inspirational. Remember to click “save” each time that you change your choices.
You have to be at least 13 years of age and resident in the U.S., Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands to vote via the app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play, or online. There is no age or residency requirement to vote via text.

At the end of this episode, which ends at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET, two artists will be told by host Ryan Seacrest that they have been eliminated. For those on the west coast who don’t want to watch live, the show will be repeat in its usual 8 p.m. time slot with a notice that voting is closed.
