‘American Idol’ winner predictions: Laine Hardy gains on Alejandro Aranda, but what about Madison VanDenburg?

Laine Hardy could well win “American Idol” on Sunday according to our poll of viewers. He has narrowed the gap with frontrunner Alejandro Aranda to just seven points (48-41). Right after the Top 3 were revealed on the May 12 episode of “American Idol,” Alejandro enjoyed a 10-point advantage. In the intervening week, the third finalist, Madison VanDenburg, has slipped even further behind, with just 11% support.

This trip of talent made it through to the final on May 19 based on their votes from the public last Sunday. Just missing out on a place in the Top 3 were Laci Kaye Booth and Wade Cota (Was one of them robbed of a place in the final?) On that Top 5 episode, each of them sang three songs: one from the Elton John catalog, another in honor of Mother’s Day, and a third chosen by mentor Bobby Bones.
