‘America’s Got Talent’ outrage: Charlotte Summers fans disappointed she didn’t receive final wild card spot

It’s official: The final wild card spot of “America’s Got Talent” Season 14 has been given to dog act Lukas & Falco. And as you’d expect, this is not good news for fans of Charlotte Summers, as they’re seriously disappointed their favorite 13-year-old singer now officially has no shot of winning NBC’s reality TV show.

This talented singer from Marbella, Spain was believed to be a front-runner to receive the wild card in the Semifinals considering the dramatic way in which she was booted from the show. As you’ll recall, Charlotte’s song choice of Shirley Bassey‘s “Diamonds Are Forever” was chastised by all four “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough — which brought the talented teen to tears.

Following her live performance in the quarterfinals, Simon lived up to his “mean judge” persona when he called her song choice “terrible, terrible, terrible.” As for the others, Howie declared, “I don’t know that I would have chosen that song,” Gabrielle added, “It was an older song by a grown woman who had a big voice,” and Julianne chimed in, “I feel like your personality is so dynamic and we didn’t really see that.”

However, Simon still did his best to try to direct the voting audience to remember her entire journey on “America’s Got Talent” and not just judge her on the single performance. He said, “I’m really praying that the audience dismisses the song choice now — that wasn’t your fault — remembers what a great person you are, what a great singer you are, and how much better we could advise you if you make it through to the next round of the competition.”

Joining Lukas & Falco in next week’s Semifinals 2 rounds will be blacklight artist Alex Dowis, singer Chris Klafford, chorale group Detroit Youth Choir, magician Dom Chambers, opera singer Emanne Beasha, show tune singer Luke Islam, guitarist Marcin Patrzalek, stand-up comedian Ryan Niemiller, acrobatic dancers V. Unbeatable and vocal group Voices of Service.

If Lukas & Falco go on to win “AGT,” that’d make them the first animal act to prevail since Olate Dogs in Season 7. Find out how it all plays out next week, when the performance show airs Tuesday, September 10 and the results episode airs Wednesday, September 11.
