French acrobatic couple Duo MainTenanT took the stage during Tuesday’s final audition episode of “America’s Got Talent” and tantalized the crowd with their sexy act. Scantily clad in black, the former Olympians performed a physically demanding routine to Bishop Briggs‘ “Never Tears Us Apart” that included backflips, balancing, tumbling and quick-drops. All four judges — Julianne Hough, Simon Cowell, Gabrielle Union and Howie Mandel — gave the acrobats “yes” votes, which meant they sailed through to the next round of competition. Watch the “AGT” performance video above and read the judges’ comments below.
Julianne: “Okay, what in the heck? You guys are by far the best acrobatic act that I’ve seen. You nailed everything. There was no wobbles. I mean, I am blown away.”
Simon: “Well, it was like perfection, wasn’t it? It reminds me when I used to watch the Olympics years and years ago. I remember those battles where one would outdo the other, would outdo the other. That is a 10.”
Gabriell: “Listen, I’m gonna start stretching tonight. I’m trying to get [my husband] Dwyane in on the act. He’s gonna have to make some switches from basketball. It was seamless and beautiful and powerful.”
Simon: “It was perfect and sensual and dangerous — that drop. It was so scary.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Their performance was sexy, but in a more respectable way and much more technically proficient. They included tumbling, balancing and trust and strength moves with one another. Julianne was blown away by their precision and Simon compared them to Olympians, which is funny since they were actually Olympians. With the ecstatic raves coming in, it was a clear YES to the next round, the first unanimous vote of the night.”
