The second of the two semifinals of “America’s Got Talent” took place Tuesday with 11 more acts performing during this two-hour show. “AGT” viewers then voted overnight for their favorites from this fifth live show of season 14. The results are to be revealed during a live one-hour episode on September 11
Only five of the acts will make it through to next week’s finals. The three acts with the most votes automatically move forward while the bottom five are eliminated. Host Terry Crews will reveal the three acts in fourth, fifth and sixth place in the popular vote. Each of these is eligible for the Dunkin’ Save, a live vote that takes place during the results show. The biggest vote-getter will earn the fourth spot with the judges then choosing between the other two for the final slot.
So which acts earned enough votes to continue on in the competition? Below is our live blog recap of results show 5, which is episode 21 of season 14. Who are you rooting for and who would you be happy to see sent on their way? Be sure to sound off in the comments about the night’s most shocking snubs.
8:00 p.m. – Tonight’s show kicked off with a performance from Britain’s Got Talent champion pianist Tokio Myers together with Stewart Copeland of The Police on the drums. I loved seeing an alum working on stage with an established artist and wish they’d do this more often on the series!
8:03 p.m. – During the recap of last night’s performance show, we saw behind the scene footage of Simon telling Howie that every dog in America hates him, the entire panel floored by Emmane’s voice and guest judge Queen Latifah absolutely loving both Ryan Niemiller and Voices of Service.
8:11 p.m. – In the first set of results, Terry told us the three acts to compete for the Dunkin’ and Judges’ Saves. They are: Emanne Beasha, Ryan Niemiller and Alex Dowis. These acts polled in 4th, 5th and 6th place in the overnight votes.
8:17 p.m. – To find out the three acts that advanced straight to the Finals, Terry brought forward Dom Chambers, V.Unbeatable and Chris Klafford. Of the three, it was V.Unbeatable that earned a spot!
8:28 p.m. – Comedic magician Piff the Magic Dragon also stopped by the AGT stage to let us know that his Vegas show is sold out and that he’ll be going on tour. For his act he convinced Terry to give up his diamond watch to be shuffled and sorted among three others so that his assistant dog would retrieve the correct watch before they blow up in the barrels they were placed in on stage. Only the gag was that the dog didn’t go retrieve a watch, which is okay because his watch was never on stage because it was actually buried in a cake within a box that a member of the audience was holding!
8:39 p.m. – To find out the next act to advance to the Finals, Terry brought forward Lukas & Falco, Marcin Patrzalek and Detroit Youth Choir. Of the three, Detroit Youth Choir made it! Kinda shocked the very talented Marcin was eliminated without a chance to be saved, but DYC definitely is the deserving act of those three!
8:42 p.m. – That left Luke Islam and Voices of Services as the only two acts left to hear their fate. Of the two singing acts, Voices of Services bested Luke, earning their spot in next week’s finale.
8:50 p.m. – After about 30 minutes of the live vote, the act that won the Dunkin’ Save for a spot in the Finals was Ryan Niemiller! That left Alex and Emanne as the two choices for the judges to select as the final finalist.
8:58 p.m. – Judges voting started with Gabrielle who chose Emanne. Julianne was next and also chose Emmane. Howie had the next decision and he went with “originality,” choosing Alex. That left it up to Simon who went with Emanne, sending her to the Finals!
9:00 p.m. – That sets the final 10 — which act is your personal favorite and which one are you predicting to be crowned the champion?
FINALISTS: V.Unbeatable, Detroit Youth Choir, Voices of Service, Ryan Niemiller, Emanne Beasha
