Who won ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’: Shin Lim or Darci Lynne Farmer?

America’s Got Talent: The Champions” will crown its first-ever winner on February 18 from among the 12 finalists who competed on the show seen on NBC last Monday. While four of the top dozen acts in the final hail from other countries, we are certain that the winner, who was chosen by a select group of superfans, will be a veteran of “America’s Got Talent.” Among these eight alumni, the likeliest to take the title are the two most recent “AGT” champs: singing ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer and magician Shin Lim.

In this match-up of Darci Lynn vs. Shin Lim, we gave the edge to the latter, who had won “America’s Got Talent” just 25 days before the “AGT: The Champions” final was taped on October 14. The superfans, who came from across the country to attend the tapings in LA, would have Shin’s win fresh in their minds. Remember, he won enough votes from them at his audition in episode 5 to make it through to the final. Darci Lynne hadn’t done that when she competed on episode 2.

Instead, the superfans preferred the singing of Cristina Ramos, the 2016 winner of “Spain’s Got Talent.” Darci Lynne got thrown a lifeline by producers who named her as one of the two wild cards in the final, along with magician Joe Dorenbos.

The other winners of the superfan votes were: comedian Preacher Lawson (episode 1), opera singer Paul Potts (episode 3) and singer Brian Justin Crum (episode 4). Potts won “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2007 while Crum was fourth on “AGT” in 2016. Lawson didn’t even make the top 5 on “America’s Got Talent” in 2017.

That was when Darci Lynne won enough votes from America to claim the million dollar prize. The runner-up that season was child singer Angelica Hale. This pint-sized talent competed on “AGT: The Champions” and was one of five acts in the final who didn’t have to rely on getting enough votes from the superfans. Rather, she earned her place by getting the Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel.

The other Golden Buzzer acts were: singer Susan Boyle (chosen by Mel B); daredevils Deadly Games; (chosen by Heidi Klum); singer Kechi Okwuchi (chosen by Simon Cowell), and sand artist Kseniya Simonova (chosen by Terry Crews).

In our survey of viewers, Darci Lynne was the overwhelming favorite, racking up 29% of the vote. Her one-time rival, Angelica, got 22% of the total. Only two other acts merited double digit support: Shin Lim (16%) and Susan Boyle (12%). If you haven’t cast your vote in our poll do so below and then sound off in the comments section with your thoughts on “AGT: The Champions.”
